Build on Our Momentum | Strengthen Media Relationships | Keep the Spotlight Shining
Season to Soar is in a moment of extraordinary visibility — and we’re looking for a volunteer PR professional to help us keep that momentum going.
Following Alex’s Birthday Food Drive, which was featured across almost major Chicago news outlet, received national coverage on ABC and GMA Brightly, coverage on various local stations across the nation and even drew attention from national talk shows , we now need an experienced PR leader who can help us build from this success, not let it be a one-time story.
We’re looking for someone who knows how to leverage this level of attention to strengthen and grow our media presence locally and nationally, cultivate lasting relationships with journalists and producers, and position Season to Soar as a recognized voice for community uplift, youth empowerment, and global citizenship.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a strategic PR roadmap to build upon our recent national coverage and continue expanding our visibility.
- Strengthen and manage relationships with reporters, producers, and editors across local, regional, and national outlets.
- Serve as the media liaison: respond to inquiries, coordinate interviews, and proactively pitch new story angles that align with our mission.
- Write and distribute compelling press releases, media advisories, op-eds, and feature stories.
- Develop and maintain a PR calendar aligned with campaigns, awareness months, and key organizational milestones.
- Monitor and report on press coverage, maintaining our growing media contact list and archive.
- Advise organizational leadership on opportunities to deepen engagement with media, influencers, and public audiences.
Ideal Candidate
- Demonstrated experience in public relations, media relations, or journalism, ideally with nonprofits or mission-driven campaigns.
- Proven ability to manage high-visibility press and build ongoing relationships with local and national media.
- Excellent writing, messaging, and storytelling skills with a keen sense for what makes a story newsworthy.
- Strategic thinker who can translate organizational goals into media opportunities and long-term visibility.
- Comfortable advising leadership and helping shape public messaging during moments of high attention.
- Passionate about Season to Soar’s mission of advancing equity, empowering youth, and uplifting communities.
- Experience with PR tools (e.g., press databases, media monitoring platforms) is a plus.
Time Commitment
- Approximately 3 hours per week
- 2 hours of independent or collaborative PR work
- 1 hour virtual weekly meeting
Term Length
- 1-year volunteer commitment
By joining Season to Soar as our PR Manager, you’ll ensure this moment of media attention becomes a foundation for sustained national presence, helping us continue telling stories that inspire, unite, and spark action
