Summary
We are seeking a Warehouse & Operations Manager to oversee daily warehouse activities at our client’s facility in Canada and USA. This pivotal role involves coordinating logistics, managing staff, and ensuring compliance with safety standards to support our mission of operational excellence.
The Warehouse & Operations Manager oversees warehouse and distribution activities across multiple sites in Canada and the United States, ensuring safety, accuracy, and efficiency. This role drives measurable continuous improvement (CI) and promotes the smart adoption of technology to simplify processes, enhance visibility, and improve the operator experience.
Working closely with the VP of Operations, this individual will also support major strategic and capital projects — such as new facility setups, process reconfiguration, and prototype trials. For candidates with strong manufacturing experience, the scope of this role may expand to include leadership and oversight of select production operations, manufacturing process improvements, or plant-level initiatives.
Must Have:
Operational Leadership
· Lead and standardize warehouse operations across multiple facilities, ensuring alignment with corporate goals, KPIs, and service expectations.
· Establish common operating procedures, visual controls, and performance dashboards across all sites.
· Conduct weekly operational reviews to assess performance, identify issues, and track progress against key targets.
Continuous Improvement (CI)
· Champion a structured, measurable CI program with defined goals for safety, quality, productivity, and cost efficiency.
· Use Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies to identify waste, streamline processes, and deliver quantifiable improvements.
· Maintain a CI tracker capturing initiatives, ROI, and progress-to-target by site.
· Lead weekly CI reporting and ensure accountability for project outcomes.
· Integrate technology-driven improvements (automation, software tools, digital reporting, etc.) into the CI road-map.
Technology Adoption & Enablement
· Promote the effective use of warehouse and operational technologies (ERP, WMS, scanning, digital workflows, etc.) to improve accuracy and efficiency.
· Work with IT, operations, and vendors to ensure proper setup, configuration, and troubleshooting of systems.
· Provide structured training to ensure operators and supervisors are confident and proficient in new tools.
· Simplify daily tasks through technology — reducing manual effort, errors, and frustration for front-line operators.
· Monitor adoption metrics and gather user feedback to drive continuous improvement in usability and system design.
People Management
· Lead, mentor, and develop warehouse managers and supervisors across all sites.
· Foster a high-performance, safety-conscious culture built on accountability, teamwork, and continuous learning.
· Ensure effective staffing, training, and succession planning within all facilities.
Safety & Compliance
· Ensure compliance with all applicable safety, environmental, and employment regulations across Canada and the U.S.
· Champion a proactive, “zero-incident” safety culture supported by training, audits, and risk assessments.
· Integrate safety metrics into weekly operational reporting.
Logistics & Inventory Control
· Oversee inventory management, shipping, and receiving processes to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and cost-effectiveness.
· Collaborate with Supply Chain and Transportation to optimize inter-facility and cross-border logistics.
· Ensure compliance with customs and trade regulations between Canada and the U.S.
Strategic & Project Support
· Partner with the VP of Operations on special projects that enhance overall operational capability.
· Lead or support capital and infrastructure initiatives such as warehouse moves, new facility builds, process reconfiguration, and equipment installations (e.g., paint line, automation projects, etc.).
· Support prototype trials and per-production readiness activities to ensure smooth transitions from development to scaled operations.
Systems & Reporting
· Use ERP/WMS data to measure performance and identify improvement opportunities.
· Produce and present weekly reports summarizing CI progress, technology adoption, and warehouse performance.
· Utilize data analytics to support decision-making and validate outcomes.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
· Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
· 7+ years of progressive experience in warehouse and distribution management, including multi-site leadership.
· Proven track record of implementing measurable CI initiatives and driving technology adoption.
· Strong understanding of both Canadian and U.S. logistics, safety, and labor standards.
· Experience with ERP/WMS systems (Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, NetSuite, or equivalent).
· Experience in manufacturing operations, process engineering, or plant leadership is a strong asset and may expand the role’s scope to include manufacturing oversight.
Skills & Competencies
· Data-driven and results-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent leadership, communication, and coaching abilities.
· Skilled in Lean, Six Sigma, or similar CI frameworks.
· Experience leading technology change — from roll out and training to sustained adoption.
· Comfortable presenting performance data and CI results to executive leadership.
· Willingness to travel regularly within Canada and the U.S.
