About the Role
THP is proud to be supporting one of our long-standing partners as they expand their services into Dublin. We're looking for dedicated Counsellors to join their growing team and play a vital role in delivering compassionate, clinical support through a 24/7 emotional wellbeing helpline.

You’ll be the first point of contact for individuals in need, offering immediate emotional support, conducting thorough clinical assessments, and ensuring safe and appropriate signposting to internal or external services. The role also includes time for structured video counselling, which can be used towards BACP accreditation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver an efficient and empathetic telephone counselling service to all callers.
  • Conduct clinical assessments and risk evaluations, including safeguarding procedures in line with the BACP code of ethics.
  • Provide solution-focused support, helping callers navigate their concerns and reach positive outcomes quickly and effectively.
  • Signpost callers to the appropriate services, such as legal, medical, or structured counselling.
  • Work with a range of issues and presentations, including high distress, trauma, and suicidal ideation.
  • Maintain accurate client records using internal case management systems.
  • Act as a CBT mentor and utilise specific training (e.g. trauma, suicide risk, safeguarding) in real-time calls.
  • Support team goals by managing call queues, callbacks, and email inboxes in line with agreed SLAs.
  • Commit to ongoing professional development and clinical supervision.

What We’re Looking For

  • Qualified counsellors (minimum Level 4 diploma or equivalent)
  • Registered or working towards accreditation with BACP, IACP, or equivalent
  • Experience in telephone or helpline support (preferred, but not essential)
  • Confident in working with risk and able to remain calm under pressure
  • Comfortable using digital platforms and case management systems
  • Strong interpersonal and organisational skills

Why Join Us?

  • Flexible shift patterns to suit your lifestyle
  • Structured support for your professional development
  • Accredited hours are eligible for BACP membership and accreditation
  • Be part of a supportive, mission-led team helping people at their most vulnerable

Interested?
We have multiple shift patterns available – just apply with your details, and we’ll find the one that works best for you.
