Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Real Estate Bookkeeper to manage day-to-day accounting functions for a dynamic real estate development and investment company. The ideal candidate will have experience in real estate accounting, strong knowledge of bookkeeping principles, and the ability to maintain accurate financial records across multiple entities and projects.
Key Responsibilities:
· Maintain general ledgers and perform full-cycle bookkeeping for multiple real estate entities and development projects
· Manage accounts payable and receivable, including vendor payments, rent collections, and reconciliations
· Reconcile bank statements, credit card accounts, and intercompany transfers
· Track construction draws, loan disbursements, interest payments, and capital contributions
· Categorize transactions using a detailed chart of accounts aligned with development budgets and cost codes
· Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and project-specific cost tracking reports
· Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and project pro forma maintenance
· Liaise with external accountants, lenders, and auditors as needed
· Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting best practices
· Maintain organized financial records and digital filing systems (e.g., Dropbox, QuickBooks, Microsoft 365)
Qualifications:
· 5+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably in real estate or construction
· Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, AppFolio, or Yardi
· Strong knowledge of real estate cost coding, soft/hard costs, and draw schedules
· Understanding of GAAP and real estate-specific financial reporting
· High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
· Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
· Excellent Excel and Microsoft Office skills
· Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
Preferred Skills:
· Experience with development budgets and capital stack tracking
· Familiarity with lender reporting and draw request documentation
· Knowledge of real estate entities such as LLCs, LPs, and JVs
- Exposure to multi-entity accounting and intercompany transactions
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
