At HEB Manitoba, our Disability & Rehabilitation (D&R) department takes a supportive and proactive approach to providing industry-leading service to our members.
We are seeking a highly motivated professional who is knowledgeable in the case management of long-term disability claims and rehabilitation practices to assist our members through a positive, streamlined process. In your first two months with us, you will:
- Learn about the HEB Manitoba Disability & Rehabilitation Plan, Plan Text and in-house system.
- Interact with the D&R Claims Specialist team and become familiar with the Case Worker and Rehabilitation functions.
- Assist members who have applied for Long-Term Disability benefits by using your analytical skills, a compassionate approach, and claims management best practices.
Your responsibilities will increase to:
- Applying your understanding of medical terminology and treatment modalities to provide innovative solutions that help members who are making life-changing decisions.
- Making long term disability claim decisions by determining eligibility, monitoring ongoing medical management, evaluating treatment plans and managing benefit offsets based on the plan text provisions.
- Proactively managing an assigned caseload within turnaround time and handling administrative tasks such as emails and telephone inquiries.
- Building relationships with our members and stakeholders.
- Communicating difficult decisions verbally and in writing.
- Becoming adept at managing your workload in a complex environment.
- Continuing to improve and enhance your effectiveness by developing a comprehensive understanding of our department activities.
Qualifications for Your Success:
Experience & Education
- A minimum of three years’ experience applying current and emerging disability claims management practices, procedures, and standards (short term or long-term disability).
- Post-Secondary Degree/Diploma – Bachelor of Arts, Nursing, Allied Health, Science, Social Work is preferred.
- Case Management certification in Disability or Rehabilitation Management.
- Completion of, or coursework towards the National Institute of Disability Management and Research (NIDMAR) certification is an asset.
*An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
Knowledge, Competencies & Skills
- Ability to apply analytical and problem-solving skills to make sound judgments and decisions.
- Proficient interpersonal skills with the proven ability to develop professional and collaborative relationships.
- Demonstrated strengths in both oral and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Capacity to balance tasks with competing priorities and varying deadlines.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
