As a Contract Criminal Attorney/Public Defender you will play a pivotal role in providing expert legal representation and guidance to clients facing criminal charges. Your expertise will be essential in navigating complex legal landscapes, ensuring that every client receives the highest standard of defense. With a focus on litigation and negotiation, you will advocate fiercely for your clients while maintaining ethical standards and professionalism.
What you’ll do
- Represent clients in criminal cases, providing comprehensive legal counsel and defense strategies.
- Conduct thorough legal research using tools like LexisNexis and Westlaw to build strong cases.
- Draft legal documents, including motions, briefs, and pleadings with precision and clarity.
- Engage in negotiations with opposing counsel to reach favorable settlements when possible.
- Prepare clients for court appearances, ensuring they understand the process and their rights.
- Collaborate with other legal professionals on cases involving estate planning, immigration law, family law, and more.
- Stay updated on changes in criminal law and relevant regulations to provide informed advice.
- Maintain organized records of all case-related documentation and communications.
Basic qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active bar membership in good standing
