We are looking for a passionate Counsellor to join our Team under the Supporting Children After Separation (SCAS) Program. The SCAS counsellor will provide a safe and supportive environment for children and young people (aged 5-18) to navigate the emotional and practical challenges of their parents' separation. This may include some family sessions where appropriate.
As a Counsellor, you will play an essential role in providing counselling, assisting children in understanding and expressing their emotions, supporting them in developing healthy coping mechanisms, and facilitating improved communication and relationships within the family. Your responsibilities will also include safety assessments and mandatory reporting, maintaining accurate records, and actively participating in team meetings and professional development activities.
Do you fit the bill
- Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in providing counselling services to children and young people.
- Strong understanding of child development and the impact of family separation on children
- Experience in working with families that present in the context of Family Violence
- An understanding of Family Systems Therapy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Current registration with relevant professional bodies (if applicable).
- Salary starting from $ 87,017 to $ 94,867 + Super / *Pro-rata
- Subject to your qualifications and years of relevant experience, a 5% loading may be applicable for this role
