We have an exciting opportunity at nbn, as the Critical Infrastructure Security Specialist reporting to Executive Manager Security Strategy & Governance.
A bit about your role
The Critical Infrastructure Security Specialist at nbn is a pivotal role within the Governance, Risk, Compliance & Advisory Services (GRC&AS) team. The role ensures nbn meets its compliance obligations under the Security of Critical Infrastructure Act and other relevant legislation and provides expert advice to senior leadership.
It involves close collaboration with internal teams—including compliance, legal, regulatory, and government affairs—as well as external stakeholders such as government agencies. Acting as a subject matter expert, the specialist promotes a strong security compliance culture and plays a key role in maintaining nbn’s leadership in critical infrastructure security.
A bit about you
The Critical Infrastructure Security Specialist at nbn requires deep knowledge of the Security of Critical Infrastructure Act, strong consulting and strategic advisory capabilities, with a focus on interpreting legislation, advising senior leadership, and contributing to board-level reporting. The role is non-technical, emphasizing business acumen, stakeholder engagement, and the ability to translate complex regulatory and security concepts into clear, actionable insights.
It involves close collaboration with internal teams and government stakeholders, and demands adaptability in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment. Key competencies include excellent communication, strategic thinking, project management, and the ability to act with integrity and discretion. Eligibility for an Australian Government security clearance is also required.
