Day Porter

Location: Mount Errigal Hotel, Letterkenny
Department: Operations / Front of House
Hours: Daytime shifts, including midweek and weekends as required
Reports to: Operations Manager / Duty Manager

Role Overview

We are looking for a reliable, friendly and hands-on Day Porter to support the day-to-day operation of the hotel.

The Day Porter will assist guests, support the Front Office and Food & Beverage teams, maintain public areas and help ensure the hotel is presented to a consistently high standard throughout the day.

The successful candidate should be approachable, flexible and willing to assist across different areas of the hotel when required.

Key Responsibilities

• Welcome guests and provide friendly, professional assistance throughout their stay.
• Assist guests with luggage, directions and general enquiries.
• Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of the hotel lobby, entrance and other public areas.
• Carry out regular checks of public areas and respond promptly to any cleaning or maintenance issues.
• Assist Reception and Duty Management with guest requests and operational requirements.
• Support the setup and turnaround of meeting rooms, conference spaces and function areas.
• Assist with moving furniture, equipment, deliveries and other items as required.
• Receive and distribute deliveries to the appropriate departments.
• Assist with car parking, guest arrivals and busy check-in periods when required.
• Ensure external entrance areas are kept clean, tidy and welcoming.
• Report maintenance, health and safety or security concerns promptly to management.
• Assist with basic operational duties throughout the hotel as directed by management.
• Assist with breakfast service when required, including clearing and resetting tables, assisting guests, maintaining the breakfast area and supporting the Food & Beverage team during busy periods.
• Assist with lunch or other Food & Beverage service when required.
• Maintain excellent communication with Reception, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage and Maintenance teams.
• Follow all hotel health and safety, fire safety and operational procedures.
• Provide support during busy events, conferences, weddings and functions.
• Complete any other reasonable duties required to support the smooth running of the hotel.

Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate should:

• Have a friendly and professional manner.
• Be reliable, punctual and well presented.
• Have excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Be comfortable working independently and as part of a wider hotel team.
• Be physically capable of moving luggage, furniture and equipment where required.
• Be flexible and willing to assist across different departments.
• Be organised and able to prioritise tasks during busy periods.
• Previous hotel, hospitality or customer service experience is desirable but not essential.
• Be available for daytime shifts, including occasional weekends depending on business requirements.

Working Pattern

This is primarily a daytime position, with shifts scheduled according to hotel occupancy, events and operational requirements.

The role will involve supporting different departments throughout the day, particularly during busy breakfast periods, guest arrivals, conferences and functions.

About the Role

The Day Porter is an important part of the hotel's front-of-house operation and will often be one of the first people guests meet during their stay.

We are looking for someone who takes pride in the appearance of the hotel, enjoys helping guests and is willing to get involved wherever assistance is needed.

Pay: €14.15-€15.50 per hour
