Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our reputable dental practice. The ideal candidate will support the dental team by providing exceptional chairside assistance, ensuring patient comfort, and maintaining the highest standards of infection control. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about dental healthcare and eager to develop their skills in a fast-paced clinical environment. Prior experience with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic is preferred, along with knowledge of HIPAA regulations and medical documentation. The position involves working closely with patients across general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, and endodontics, utilizing advanced dental technology including 3D scanners and medical imaging tools.
Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during various procedures including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, and pediatric treatments
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and setting up necessary supplies in accordance with aseptic techniques
- Take and develop X-rays while ensuring patient safety and comfort
- Record vital signs and medical history accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic
- Manage medical records and documentation following HIPAA guidelines to ensure confidentiality
- Perform chairside assisting using dental terminology and anatomy knowledge to support efficient patient care
- Operate dental equipment including 3D scanners and other imaging devices for diagnostic purposes
- Provide patient education on procedures, post-treatment care, and oral health maintenance
- Maintain infection control protocols to uphold a sterile environment within the dental clinic
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and managing patient flow when needed
Skills
- Proficiency with EMR systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, Epic, or similar platforms
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards
- Experience with dental imaging including X-ray techniques and 3D scanning technology
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and various specialties such as pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, and endodontics
- Skilled in chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency and patient comfort
- Ability to perform vital signs assessment and medical imaging accurately
- Familiarity with infection control practices and aseptic techniques in a clinical setting
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients of all ages including pediatrics
- Previous experience working in a general dentistry or specialized dental clinic is highly desirable
