Bartra Healthcare is seeking an experienced and dedicated Director of Nursing (DON) to provide professional and business leadership in the day-to-day operations of Bartra Raheen Lodge, a new Residential and Transitional Care Facility.
The Director of Nursing will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care in line with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. The role involves leadership and management across clinical care, governance, HR, finance, facility management, quality improvement, and resident experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care and maintain compliance with NMBI, HIQA, HSE guidelines, and company policies.
- Provide leadership, support, and guidance to CNMs and nursing teams to ensure effective service delivery.
- Monitor quality standards through audits, reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage staffing, recruitment, induction, supervision, training, and performance management.
- Support and develop multidisciplinary teams to provide excellent resident-focused care.
- Ensure effective communication with residents, families, staff, healthcare professionals, and external stakeholders.
- Manage budgets, cost controls, occupancy targets, and financial administration in collaboration with senior management.
- Ensure the facility is prepared for HIQA inspections and meets all statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Promote a positive culture aligned with Bartra’s values and person-centred care philosophy.
- Support the commissioning and development of Bartra Raheen Lodge from HIQA registration through to opening.

Essential Criteria:
- Registered General Nurse on the Register of Nurses held by Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Masters Qualification in Healthcare or related field.
- Evidence of continuous professional development.
- Minimum three years post-graduate nursing experience, including at least two years’ experience in Care of the Older Person within the previous six years.
- Minimum three years’ experience in a management capacity within health and social care.
- Strong leadership, communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Genuine commitment to providing compassionate, resident-centred care.
Desirable Criteria:
- Post Graduate Masters/Diploma in Gerontology.
- Post-registration qualification in nursing people with dementia.
- Qualifications in Management and Leadership.
- Experience working in a similar healthcare environment.
