Job Summary

The Dishwasher plays a vital role in maintaining a clean and efficient kitchen environment at Hygea Healthcare, ensuring the proper sanitation of all dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment. Working in a healthcare or behavioral health setting, the Dishwasher helps promote a safe and healthy environment for patients, staff, and visitors by adhering to strict cleanliness and hygiene protocols. This position requires attention to detail, speed, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining compliance with healthcare safety standards.

Essential Job Functions

Wash and sanitize all dishes, utensils, kitchen equipment, and food preparation areas in compliance with healthcare facility standards.
Operate commercial dishwashing machines and ensure proper use of detergents and sanitizing agents.
Hand-wash and sanitize delicate kitchen items as necessary.
Properly dispose of food waste and garbage, adhering to waste management policies and infection control guidelines.
Assist in the removal of recycling and composting materials.
Assist kitchen staff with basic food preparation tasks as needed, such as peeling vegetables, preparing ingredients, and assembling trays for meal service.
Help with the setup, cleaning, and breakdown of food service areas.
Adhere to all food safety and hygiene regulations, including those specific to healthcare environments (e.g., infection control standards).
Maintain a clean and safe work environment, following health department codes and Hygea Healthcare policies.
Report any maintenance or safety issues to the supervisor immediately.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED preferred.
Previous experience in a kitchen or healthcare/behavioral health setting is a plus.
Familiarity with commercial dishwashing equipment and food service sanitation protocols is preferred.

Schedule:

Full-time/Part-time, flexible shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays based on facility needs.
