Our Cambridge facility specializes in the design and manufacturing of neutron flux monitoring devices and in-core instrumentation systems used in nuclear power generation — products where precision, quality, and on-time delivery are mission-critical.

About the Role

The Facilities Manager is responsible for the total upkeep, reliability, and safety of the Cambridge facility, including the building infrastructure and the industrial equipment base that supports manufacturing operations. This role owns the preventive maintenance program for critical production assets (swagers, drawers, welders, ovens, pumps, vacuum systems, and related equipment), ensuring machine uptime, regulatory compliance, and a safe working environment. As a qualified millwright, the Facilities Manager is capable of hands-on diagnosis, repair, alignment, and installation of industrial machinery, in addition to managing outside contractors and vendors.

This position will own Environmental Health and Safety and take a leadership role in the JHSC. In partnership with Operations, Engineering, and Finance, the Facilities Manager also contributes to long-range facility planning—defining capacity, layout, and infrastructure requirements needed to support the current site's growth as well as potential future facility expansion. This role balances daily reactive and preventive maintenance execution with proactive capital and space planning to ensure the facility can scale with the business.

Essential Duties

● Lead sourcing and negotiation of complex, contracts, and long-term agreements with strategic suppliers to secure optimal cost, quality, delivery, and risk terms

● Partner with Quality to develop and maintain an approved supplier list. Conduct supplier visits as required and maintain publish KPI’s.

● Develop and execute category strategies in partnership with commodity management, aligning sourcing decisions with broader business and operational objectives

● Own supplier relationship management for critical and strategic suppliers, leading business reviews, and governance cadences to drive accountability and performance

● Monitor supplier performance and key performance indicators, leading root cause analysis and corrective action plans for supply disruptions or quality escalations

● Review and approve purchase requisitions and purchase orders, ensuring accuracy, policy compliance, and appropriate approval controls

● Partner with Accounts Payable and Materials teams to resolve purchasing, invoicing, and receiving discrepancies

● Ability to interpret manufacturing drawings to determine quantity of material to buy and best source of supply

● Serve as an escalation point for day-to-day procurement issues such as delivery delays, allocation constraints, or quality concerns

● Collaborate with Quality, Engineering and Operations on new product introduction sourcing, ensuring timely qualification and availability of materials

● Partner with Planning and Operational Excellence teams to implement and sustain lean practices with suppliers, including kanban, min/max and just-in-time processes where applicable

● Mentor and provide guidance to junior buyers, sharing negotiation and risk management expertise

● Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable regulatory and export control requirements in all procurement activities

● Own the accuracy and integrity of supplier master data and purchasing records within the ERP system

Essential Requirements

Facility Upkeep & Maintenance

● Own total facility upkeep, including building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, compressed air, fire/life safety) and grounds, ensuring a clean, safe, and compliant work environment.

● Develop and manage a preventive maintenance (PM) program covering all industrial assets, including swagers, drawing/draw equipment, welders, ovens/furnaces, pumps, and vacuum systems.

● Define PM schedules, spare parts strategies, and maintenance procedures to maximize equipment uptime and extend asset life.

● Perform and lead hands-on millwright work—rigging, alignment, installation, and repair of industrial machinery and mechanical systems—as both a working practitioner and a technical resource for the maintenance team.

● Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on production equipment, minimizing unplanned downtime.

● Manage relationships with outside contractors, equipment vendors, and service providers, including scope definition, scheduling, and quality of work.

Asset Reliability & Capital Planning

● Maintain equipment records, maintenance history, and reliability metrics (MTBF, MTTR, PM compliance) to drive data-based maintenance decisions.

● Partner with Manufacturing and Engineering to identify recurring equipment failures and lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions.

● Develop capital expenditure recommendations for equipment replacement, facility upgrades, and infrastructure investment, with supporting justification and ROI.

● Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Finance to define potential growth plans for the current facility, including layout, capacity, and utility requirements needed to support increased volume.

● Provide technical input into evaluation of future facility options as the business grows, including site infrastructure, utility capacity, and equipment relocation/installation requirements.

Safety, Compliance & Environmental

● Ensure all facility and maintenance activities comply with applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements (OHSA, Ontario ECA, local codes, and Mirion EHS policies).

● Maintain compliance documentation for equipment inspections, permits, and regulated systems (e.g., pressure vessels, fire suppression, electrical systems).

● Lead lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space, and other safety programs related to facility and equipment work.

● Support EHS in incident investigation and implementation of corrective actions related to facility or equipment failures.

Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

● Prioritize and coordinate maintenance work orders in alignment with production priorities and the site's tiered daily management system.

● Partner with Manufacturing Management and Engineering to schedule planned maintenance and equipment installation with minimal impact to production.

● Manage the facilities and maintenance budget, including labor, spare parts, contracted services, and capital projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES — SAFETY, QUALITY & LEADERSHIP

● All employees are expected to follow government and corporate laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

● All Cambridge employees play a role in the implementation of the site Quality and Safety Policy, which outlines a safe work environment as the foundation for the business unit's goal to create a positive customer experience.

● Direct supervisory responsibility for facility maintenance technicians and/or millwrights, with cross-functional coordination across Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, EHS, and Finance.

Additional Requirements

● Strong mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting skills.

● Working knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical distribution, compressed air, fire/life safety) in an industrial setting.

● Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) for work order and PM tracking.

● Understanding of OHSA, Ontario ECA, and local code requirements applicable to industrial facilities.

● Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings, P&IDs, and equipment manuals.

● Strong project management and budgeting skills to support capital and facility growth planning.

● Strong communication skills in English, with the ability to collaborate across Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Finance.

● Lean Manufacturing or Toyota Production System exposure is a plus.

Education & Experience Requirements

● Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education, certification, and experience.

● Certified Millwright (industrial mechanic) credential, or demonstrated equivalent hands-on millwright experience/apprenticeship.

● 7+ years of progressive experience in industrial facilities and equipment maintenance, including hands-on millwright work (rigging, alignment, installation, and repair of industrial machinery).

● Demonstrated experience defining and executing preventive maintenance programs for industrial process equipment such as swagers, drawing equipment, welders, ovens/furnaces, pumps, and vacuum systems.

● Experience contributing to facility layout, capacity planning, or capital project scoping in a manufacturing environment.

● Experience managing outside contractors and vendors for facility and equipment work.

Physical Requirements

· Regularly required to sit, stand, and walk 2-4 hours at a time.

● Frequently required to use hands and arms to operate tools, equipment, and machinery.

● Must be able to work in and around industrial equipment, including confined spaces, elevated areas, and mechanical/electrical rooms as required.

● Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.

● Work will be performed in office and various production/facility site work environments.
