About the Labrador Friendship Centre

The Labrador Friendship Centre is an organization that provides critical services to urban Indigenous populations. The not-for-profit charitable organization is located in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Newfoundland & Labrador, and prides itself on acknowledging the traditional and ancestral homelands of the Innu of Nitassinan, the Inuit of Nunatsiavut, and the Inuit of NunatuKavut in Labrador. Additionally, the organization recognizes the Island of Newfoundland as the traditional and ancestral homelands of the Beothuk and the Mi'kmaq. This acknowledgement highlights the importance of the Indigenous communities and their ancestral ties to the lands that they have inhabited for thousands of years. The Labrador Friendship Centre is currently accepting applications for the position of Finance Assistant.

Position: Finance Assistant (Accounts Payable)

Reports To: Finance Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Administer payroll
  • Oversee accounts
  • Input invoices
  • Reconcile credit card accounts, monthly
  • Issue payments to vendors in timeline set by Finance Manager
  • Submit government payments as per deadlines (i.e.: HST, payroll, etc.)
  • Ensure all finance accounts are up to date
  • Ensure all deposits are accurate and input into accounting software
  • Assist in maintaining payroll records including leave summaries
  • Maintain a precise filing system
  • Adhere to deadlines
  • Assist in preparations for the annual audit
  • Prepare T4s and T4 summaries, as required
  • Prepare records of employment, as required
  • Assist with financial reports, as required
  • Other related duties, as required

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of post secondary education in the accounting field with a minimum of two years experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong working knowledge of Sage 50, Excel and MS Office software
  • Good organizational and administrative skills
  • Class 5 drivers’ licence and own transportation
  • Successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory certificate of conduct
  • Employee must be bondable

Preference will be given to Indigenous applicants

Salary:

  • $ 26.00 per hour plus benefits

Hours:

  • 35 hours per week

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $26.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week
