VOLTARI is the world’s leading vertically integrated EV shipbuilder specializing in the design, development and manufacturing of advanced electric propulsion systems with marine-grade high-kW battery manufacturing, carbon fiber hulls, software and autonomous/unmanned technologies (USV).
As we scale across Canada and expand into the United States, we are seeking a Financial Controller to join our dynamic and growing team at our corporate headquarters in Merrickville, supporting this location as well as our Montréal and Florida operations.
Reporting to the Director of Finance and HR, this role is hands-on, technical, and operational in nature. The Controller will anchor the company’s accounting function, build scalable financial systems, and ensure the integrity, accuracy, and reliability of Voltari’s financial data.

Job Summary
The ideal candidate is proactive, entrepreneurial, confident in navigating ambiguity, and technically strong. They are hands-on and detail-oriented, with the ability to build structure within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
The Controller will own the company’s core accounting cycle (including AR/AP, payroll, inventory, revenue recognition, bank reconciliations, and general ledger), while strengthening internal controls, financial reporting processes, audit readiness, and cross-border compliance.
This role requires experience in environments with long contract completion cycles and vertically integrated sales and manufacturing operations, where revenue recognition, work-in-progress tracking, and margin integrity are critical.
As Voltari grows, this individual will implement policies, procedures, and systems that support operational excellence across multiple jurisdictions.
Responsibilities
Financial Management & Technical Accounting
- Participate in the full-cycle accounting function, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, collections, payroll, inventory, reconciliations,month-end, and year-end close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Apply appropriate revenue recognition policies in accordance with Canadian GAAP, including treatment of deposits, milestone payments, and long-term contract arrangements.
- Manage accounting for long production and contract cycles, including work-in-progress (WIP) tracking and cost allocation.
- Maintain accurate inventory valuation and job costing methodologies across vertically integrated sales and manufacturing processes.
- Implement and strengthen internal controls and accounting policies appropriate for a scaling manufacturing organization.
- Ensure compliance with municipal, provincial/state, and federal regulations and coordinate tax filings and liaise with external auditors and tax advisors.
- Collaborate and provide inputs to inform cash flow reporting and financial analysis to support leadership decision-making.
Systems, Processes & Scalable Infrastructure
- QuickBooks power user and related finance systems, ensuring data integrity and process discipline.
- Support evaluation and implementation of ERP and manufacturing modules as the business expands.
- Refine accounting workflows across the full order-to-cash and procure-to-pay cycles, aligning finance with production and sales operations.
- Eliminate manual inefficiencies and single-point risks through automation and improved process design.
- Develop documentation and financial policy frameworks to support operational scale.
Cross-Border & Multi-Jurisdiction Support
- Support accounting and compliance across Canadian and U.S. operations.
- Coordinate with external experts on cross-border accounting and tax matters.
- Assist with consolidation and reporting across Canadian and U.S. entities as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- CPA designation (or in progress) strongly preferred.
- Advanced proficiency using Excel and QuickBooks.
- Proven experience as a Controller or senior full-cycle accountant in a growth-oriented environment.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian GAAP; familiarity with U.S. accounting considerations is an asset.
- Experience in manufacturing or inventory-driven environments with long contract completion cycles.
- Experience supporting vertically integrated sales and production operations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage competing priorities.
