The Louis Fitzgerald Hotel is seeking an experienced, commercially focused and people-centred Hotel General Manager to lead the overall operation of our busy hotel and conference venue in West Dublin.

This is an exciting opportunity for a hospitality professional with a proven track record in hotel leadership, operational excellence, financial performance and team development. Reporting to senior leadership, the successful candidate will be responsible for driving guest satisfaction, commercial success, employee engagement and operational standards across all departments.

About The Role

About the Role

As Hotel General Manager, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across the hotel, ensuring exceptional guest experiences while delivering strong commercial results.

You will oversee all aspects of the operation including Front Office, Food & Beverage, Accommodation, Conference & Banqueting, Kitchen, Sales, Revenue and Maintenance, ensuring departments work collaboratively to achieve business objectives.

This role requires a visible leader who is passionate about hospitality, develops high-performing teams and leads by example.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Operations

  • Provide overall leadership and direction to all hotel departments.
  • Drive a culture of accountability, service excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain exceptional standards of guest service throughout the hotel.
  • Ensure operational consistency and compliance with company standards.
  • Conduct regular operational reviews and departmental meetings.
  • Lead and support the management team in achieving departmental objectives.

Commercial Performance

  • Deliver budgeted revenue, profitability and GOP targets.
  • Analyse business performance, market trends and competitor activity.
  • Work closely with Sales and Revenue teams to maximise occupancy and revenue opportunities.
  • Identify opportunities to increase profitability and operational efficiencies.
  • Monitor departmental costs and labour expenditure.

People Management

  • Lead, coach and develop the hotel management team.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
  • Support talent development, succession planning and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with employment legislation and company policies.
  • Promote high standards of communication and collaboration across departments.

Guest Experience

  • Champion a guest-first culture throughout the business.
  • Review guest feedback and implement improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure service standards consistently meet and exceed guest expectations.
  • Act as a key point of contact for significant guest issues when required.

Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety, Fire Safety, Food Safety and employment legislation.
  • Maintain all operational licences and regulatory requirements.
  • Support internal audits and compliance reviews.
  • Manage risk effectively across the operation.

The Ideal Candidate

Essential

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a senior hotel leadership role.
  • Previous experience as a Hotel General Manager, Deputy General Manager or Operations Manager within a high-volume hotel environment.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen with experience managing budgets and labour costs.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven track record of improving guest satisfaction and operational performance.
  • Strong understanding of Irish employment legislation and compliance requirements.
  • Flexibility to support operational requirements as needed.

Desirable

  • Experience within conference, events and banqueting operations.
  • Third-level qualification in Hospitality Management, Business Management or related discipline.
  • Experience working within an independent or multi-property hotel group.
  • Strong understanding of revenue management and commercial strategy.
