Saint Joseph School is seeking a warm, engaging, and dedicated Kindergarten teacher to join our school community.

We are a faith-filled school committed to educating the whole child—academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. Our Kindergarten program is a child’s first experience of formal education, and we are looking for a teacher who can create a classroom that is structured, nurturing, and joyful.

Position Summary

The Kindergarten teacher will design and lead a developmentally appropriate classroom that builds early literacy, foundational math skills, and social-emotional growth. This teacher will foster independence, curiosity, and a love of learning while helping students successfully transition into school.

Key Responsibilities

• Create a safe, welcoming, and structured classroom environment
• Deliver instruction aligned with early childhood best practices and the Science of Reading
• Use hands-on, play-based, and differentiated instructional strategies
• Support social-emotional development through consistent expectations and language
• Monitor student progress using observation and assessment tools
• Communicate regularly with families
• Collaborate with colleagues and support staff
• Uphold the mission and values of Saint Joseph School

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (Master’s preferred)
• RI teaching certification (or ability to obtain)
• Experience working with young children
• Strong understanding of early literacy, UFLI, and foundational math instruction
• Ability to meet a range of learning needs

• Familiarity with or interest in the Reggio Emilia approach, including child-centered, inquiry-based learning
