About the Opportunity: Kitchen Hand / Dish Hand

Norma’s Deli is looking for a reliable and trustworthy Kitchen Hand / Dish Hand to join our dynamic team! We have two positions available, one full-time and one part-time. Please note these roles will start at the end of November. Reporting directly to the Head Chef, you’ll play an important role in supporting the day-to-day kitchen operations, helping to maintain a clean, organised, and efficient workspace. We’re looking for someone dependable, proactive, and eager to grow, someone who can take ownership of their section and develop into broader kitchen responsibilities over time.

Key Responsibilities:

• Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, pans, and kitchen utensils efficiently and thoroughly
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment, workstations, and food preparation areas
• Operate and maintain commercial dishwashing equipment
• Assist with stock organisation and storage
• Follow all food safety and hygiene regulations
• Support kitchen team with basic prep tasks as required
• Perform other duties as directed by the Head Chef

Requirements:

• Previous experience in a similar role preferred but not essential
• Understanding of basic food safety and kitchen hygiene standards
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
• High attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely
• Physically fit – able to stand for long periods and lift up to 25kg
• Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings

• Demonstrated experience in a similar fast-paced kitchen environment
• Great communication skills and a professional presentation
• Strong team spirit and willingness to assist wherever needed
• A passion for food and a keen interest in kitchen operations
• Awareness of current food trends and kitchen best practices
• A solid understanding of food safety standards
