Salary: $20.25 hourly

Work Schedule:

• 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., Hours may vary due to department needs.
• 5 days per week, rotating weekends and holidays
• Will be on call as required by management.

Food Service Manager Duties:

This position exists to ensure the delivery of consistent high-quality food service to the residents of the Kansas Veterans’ Home (KVH). This position supervises a group of Cooks and Food Service Workers; controls food distribution to residents; assists with resident nutritional care plans; reviews menus, special diets, and other food requests; and maintains quality assurance.

Job Responsibilities may include (but are not limited to):

• Plan and assign work of subordinate staff members
• Evaluate staff performance and collaborate with employees to resolve concerns
• Oversee food distribution to serving areas and monitor portion control
• Develop and implement procedures to maintain high-quality service
• Ensure adequate staffing levels in the dining room
• Prepare and post monthly work schedules, review and process leave requests
• Assist in the development and review of resident nutritional care plans
• Review menus, special diets, and resident food preferences
• Monitor dietary operations in order to maintain service quality
• Keep quality assurance and assessment records
• Ensure access to necessary supplies and equipment, Report equipment malfunctions
• Provide training on equipment and use

Requirements:

• One (1) year of experience in commercial or institutional cooking/management.
• Must pass a criminal background screening and be free from conviction of a criminal offense that would prevent you from employment with KVH.

The preferred candidate will have:

• One (1) year of experience in a leadership role overseeing dietetic services, including supervisory responsibilities and knowledge of food and nutrition prinicples
• One (1) year of experience in commercial or institutional food preparation
• A positive work history in the food service field
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Excellent organizational abilities
• A genuine commitment to resident-centered care.
