About the Opportunity
The primary purpose of the Knowledge Translation and Engagement Officer is to co-ordinate, execute, implement and support the activities that promote the translation, communication, and uptake of research and evidence across the Cancer Institute NSW's programs. The role contributes to the implementation of the Cancer Institute NSW's impact & outcomes framework to identify and generate evidence on the performance and value of the Cancer Institute NSW's investments, and to facilitate effective delivery of programs and research projects in line with Divisional and Institute objectives.
Essential Requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualification in health or science and relevant understanding and experience working within the NSW Health or other health systems or government agencies.
- Demonstrated experience in knowledge translation or research communication, including synthesising complex evidence into clear, accessible, and engaging content for diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing approaches to monitor, evaluate, and assess the effectiveness of knowledge translation or research engagement activities in healthcare or research settings.
- Experience developing research impact resources, such as case studies, impact showcases, or summaries highlighting outcomes and benefits from research initiatives.
- Competence in qualitative study design, coding and synthesis and integrating qualitative findings with quantitative results.
- Strong skills in data management, analysis and communication including visual literacy capabilities.
- Experience in reporting and promoting the uptake and use of research evidence in decision-making, policy or practice, including experience in undertaking and reporting rapid and systematic literature reviews.
Pre-Screening Questions
- Provide a description of a recent example where you translated complex research or evidence into clear, accessible content for different audiences such as executive leaders, internal and external colleagues and/or peers, or community stakeholders. What was your role, what products or outputs did you develop, and what was the outcome or uptake?
- Outline your experience preparing research impact resources, such as case studies, impact summaries, showcases, or outcome-focused reports. What was the purpose of the resource and how was it used?
- Describe your experience developing or applying approaches to monitor, evaluate or assess the effectiveness of knowledge translation, research engagement or research impact activities. In your response, outline the methods you used, the type of data involved, and how the findings informed decision-making, policy, practice or program improvement.
