The Opportunity

This is a rare chance to build a meaningful practice in one of Ontario’s most sought-after regions. As an Associate Lawyer at Hoos Law, you will manage a diverse file load spanning residential and commercial real estate transactions, wills and estate planning, and corporate matters. You will work collaboratively with firm leadership and support staff, develop lasting client relationships, and have a genuine opportunity to grow your career — all while living in a community that most people only visit on vacation.

What You’ll Be Doing

Managing residential, waterfront, and commercial real estate transactions from offer through closing, including Muskoka-specific considerations such as riparian rights, shoreline regulations, right-of-way issues, and septic and water system compliance

Drafting and reviewing wills, powers of attorney, and estate plans; administering estates and advising executors and beneficiaries

Advising on corporate transactions including incorporations, shareholder agreements, business purchases and sales, and ongoing corporate governance

Maintaining client files with accuracy and efficiency using Conveyancer and other practice management tools

Collaborating with the team on matters involving family law and litigation as needs arise

Building and deepening client relationships in a community-centred practice

What We’re Looking For

Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario (LSO)

Minimum five (5) years of post-call experience, with a strong focus on real estate, wills & estates, and corporate law

Proven ability to manage a high-volume transaction practice independently and with confidence

Familiarity with Muskoka or rural Ontario real estate considered a significant asset

Strong written and verbal communication skills — you make the complex feel approachable

Collaborative team player who thrives in a collegial, community-oriented environment

Organized, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering excellent client service

Experience with Teraview, Unity, and practice management software an asset
