Since 1890, the Iveagh Trust has been building sustainable communities and transforming lives as Ireland’s oldest provider of social housing. Today, we support over 2,000 households across Dublin from families and older people to men experiencing homelessness at the Iveagh Hostel.
The Trust has a vacancy for a Technical Support Engineer to provide first-line technical support across the organisation.
To be considered for this role, you must have the legal entitlement to work in Ireland.
Role Purpose:
The Technical Support Engineer will provide first‑line technical support to staff across the organisation. This role is ideal for someone early in their IT career who is eager to learn, deliver excellent customer service, and develop hands‑on technical skills. The post holder will assist with resolving day‑to‑day IT issues, supporting hardware and software, and helping maintain a secure and efficient IT environment.
Reporting to the IT Manager and based in the Iveagh Trust Head Office on Bull Alley Street, Dublin 8 with site visits as required.
32.75 hours per week. Hybrid working and flexi-time available.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Support
· Act as the first point of contact for IT queries via phone, email, and in person.
· Diagnose and resolve basic hardware and software issues for end‑users.
· Log support requests and ensure timely follow‑up.
· Escalate more complex issues to the senior IT resource or to the outsourced provider when required.
Hardware & Software Setup
· Support the setup, configuration, and deployment of laptops, mobile phones, desktops, teams phone connections, and other devices.
· Install and update approved software and applications.
· Assist with developing & maintaining an accurate inventory of all IT equipment.
Systems & Network Support
· Provide basic troubleshooting for printers, Wi‑Fi connectivity, and network access.
· Assist with user account creation, password resets, and permission updates.
· Support video conferencing and meeting room technology.
IT Maintenance & Administration
· Help keep systems up‑to‑date by working with LSS to ensure patches are applied.
· Assist in maintaining cybersecurity practices by following policies and reporting suspicious activity.
· Support small IT projects and improvements under guidance.
Customer Service & Communication
· Provide friendly, clear, and helpful support to all staff.
· Communicate technical issues in a way that is easy for non‑technical users to understand.
· Contribute to preparation of IT guides & SOPS, IT Training, FAQs, and internal documentation.
General:
· Protect confidentiality and handle all information with discretion.
· Represent the Trust professionally in every interaction.

Additional Information
· Training and development will be provided
· Some out-of-hours support may occasionally be required during system updates or projects (with notice).
Knowledge & Experience Required:
· Relevant 3rd level qualification
· 1-3 years relevant experience
· Relevant IT certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft Fundamentals) or willingness to work towards them.
· Strong interest in IT, technology, and problem‑solving.
· Good communication and customer service skills.
· Basic understanding of Windows operating systems, Microsoft 365, and mobile devices.
· Ability to work methodically, with attention to detail.
· Willingness to learn and take direction.
· Ability to work on-site as required.
Desirable but not essential:
· Full, valid Irish driving license and access to private transport.
· Previous experience in a helpdesk or IT support role (including internships or placements).
· Understanding of Active Directory, Azure AD, or similar systems. Familiarity with networks, Wi‑Fi, and printers.
