Job Overview
This position reports directly to the Site Director, supporting and growing the business by providing maintenance department management as well as support for both new projects and continuous improvement projects. As a maintenance manager you will ensure that all Revital production equipment maintenance is conducted in a safe and timely manner, that manufacturer recommended maintenance and PM schedules are followed and documented. In your role you will manage, schedule, organize, and track your team of maintenance personnel. Assist maintenance personnel with critical repairs as needed. Your position will be based out of the Sarnia, Ontario facility..

Responsibilities
- Maintenance Strategy & Planning:
- Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive preventive and predictive maintenance program for all plant equipment, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Ensure the plant's maintenance strategy aligns with the company's production goals, safety standards, and budgetary constraints.
- Schedule and oversee planned and unplanned maintenance work, including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- In coordination with project teams develop and implement project construction execution plans.
- Assess, recommend, and implement continuous improvement opportunities for the various processes within the plant.
- Leadership & Team Management:
- Lead, train, and supervise a team of maintenance technicians, mechanics, and support staff, ensuring optimal team performance and development.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide continuous improvement feedback for the maintenance team.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and applicable Provincial and Federal Health & Safety regulations and compliance obligations.
- Maintain, develop and build relationships with key suppliers of services, parts, and equipment to ReVital Polymers Inc.
- Equipment & Systems Management:
- Ensure optimal operation of all equipment, including extruders, shredders, grinders, conveyor systems, balers, and other recycling and manufacturing machinery.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues efficiently to minimize production downtime.
- Oversee the installation of new equipment and systems, ensuring proper calibration and integration into the plant’s operations.
- Manage outsourced services within project constraints, including management of rental equipment.
- Ability to understand and interpret contracts with contractors and hold them accountable for their commitments therein.
- Budgeting & Cost Control:
- Manage the maintenance department's budget, including the cost-effective procurement of tools, parts, and services.
- Assess and audit Revital’s suppliers to ensure Revital is procuring the best and fair price for the goods which it acquires.
- Track and monitor maintenance-related expenses and ensure compliance with allocated budgets.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings through improvements in efficiency, reliability, and equipment lifespan.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure that all maintenance activities are carried out in compliance with company health and safety protocols and all applicable Provincial and Federal Health & Safety regulations and compliance obligations.
- Collaborate with the safety team to maintain a safe working environment and continuously improve workplace safety.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of guarding, machinery, systems, and the overall plant to identify and mitigate risks.
- Where deficiencies in guarding and safety are found mobilize the correct personnel to address the issue in a timely fashion.
- Continuous Improvement & Reporting:
- Analyze equipment performance data and recommend process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and reduce downtime.
- Stay up to date with advancements in technology and equipment related to plastics recycling and manufacturing.
- Prepare and present regular reports on maintenance activities, equipment reliability, downtime, and other key metrics to plant management.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or related field. Equivalent experience may be considered.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of maintenance management experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, preferably in plastics recycling or similar industries.
- Technical Expertise:
- Strong knowledge of machinery and systems used in plastics recycling and manufacturing, such as extruders, shredders, injection molding machines, etc.
- Proficient in maintenance CMMS software (Emaint by Fluke experience an asset) and the use of diagnostic tools for troubleshooting equipment issues.
- Familiarity with predictive maintenance technologies and lean manufacturing principles.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office suite, particularly excel.
- Strong ability to communicate using digital technology means (email, text, phone)
- Ability to read and interpret drawings mechanical, electrical, hydraulic.
- Basic ability to use AutoCAD and Solidworks an asset.
- Knowledge of various manufacturing technologies (cutting, welding, grinding, lathe, mill, heat treatment)
- Knowledge of metallurgy (ex various grades of steels and their properties)
- Leadership Skills: Proven leadership and team management abilities, with effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Certifications: Certified Maintenance Manager (CMM) or related certification will be considered a definite asset.
