Job Title: Maintenance Operative

Job Overview:

As a Maintenance Operative at Flannery’s Nursing Home, you will be responsible for ensuring the facility remains safe, operational, and welcoming for residents, staff, and visitors. You will carry out daily maintenance tasks, comply with fire safety and regulatory standards, and address repairs or preventative measures. This part-time role involves working 6 hours a day, up to 5 days a week, at €15/hour.

Key Responsibilities:

1. General Maintenance:

• Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, painting, and carpentry.
• Conduct inspections and ensure timely resolution of identified issues.

2. Fire Safety Compliance:

• Test and log fire alarms, emergency lighting, and fire exits weekly.
• Maintain compliance with fire safety regulations and assist during drills.

3. Facility and Equipment Management:

• Inspect, maintain, and document safety of systems like HVAC, water, and electrical.
• Address defects reported by staff and ensure timely repair.

4. Groundskeeping:

• Ensure external areas are safe and presentable, handling minor landscaping and waste management.

5. Health and Safety:

• Adhere to infection control, personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines, and waste disposal policies.
• Promptly report hazards, accidents, or potential safety risks to management.

6. Record-Keeping:

• Maintain a maintenance log for all repairs, inspections, and activities conducted.

7. Collaboration:

• Assist with setting up and dismantling equipment or furniture for resident activities.
• Coordinate with external contractors when specialized repairs are needed.

8. Training and Development:

• Participate in mandatory and ongoing training to ensure compliance with health, safety, and regulatory standards.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in maintenance or a related role.
• Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and general repairs.
• Familiarity with fire safety procedures and equipment checks.
• Ability to work independently and handle physical tasks.
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: €16.00 per hour
