Contract: 2 year Fixed Term, Full time (40 hrs/week)
Manager Salary Range: €85,000 - €95,000k pa depending on experience
Senior Manager Salary Range: €105,000 - €115,000 depending on experience.

About the role
CPI is seeking an experienced Manager or Senior Manager to play a central role in CPI’s work in global climate finance and policy in its new Austria office based in Vienna. This is a foundational role and will be CPI’s first position based in Austria. Reporting directly to CPI’s Senior Program Director and collaborating extensively across the organization, the Manager/Senior Manager will play a critical role in shaping CPI’s regional presence through supporting EU partnerships and contributing to the organization’s global portfolio.
The Manager/ Senior Manager will be responsible for developing and managing projects, supporting business development, representing CPI with key stakeholders, and supporting a strong and motivated local team as the office grows.
This role requires a high degree of autonomy, strong judgment, and the ability to operate effectively across geographies, cultures, and disciplines while remaining closely aligned with CPI’s global leadership and strategic priorities. The role will be shaped around the strengths and experience of the selected candidate.
Roles and Responsibilities
Program Oversight
- Manage, and where appropriate, lead the development and delivery of climate finance initiatives, projects, and analytical products.
- Oversee project delivery, including timelines, budgets, quality control, and compliance with CPI standards.
- Ensure outputs are analytically rigorous, methodologically sound, and delivered on time and within budget.
- Work closely with CPI analysts and project managers across global offices to co-develop and implement research agendas and products.
- Apply, develop, and refine methodologies drawing on economics, finance, public policy, risk management, and related disciplines.
Stakeholder Engagement and Business Development
- Support and lead fundraising / business development activities to diversify and strengthen our funding outlook, building upon existing relationships and identifying new opportunities. Develop concept notes and pitch presentations. Engage internally and externally to advance concepts.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key local and international stakeholders, including government ministries, multilateral institutions, donors, financial institutions, corporates, and peer organizations.
- Represent CPI at meetings, conferences, and events to maintain influence and impact.
Along with CPI Global staff, support the establishment of CPI’s Austria Office as required
- Act as the primary point of contact between the Austria office and CPI’s global offices.
- Provide local market intelligence, policy context, and strategic insights to support global decision-making.
- Support the recruitment, onboarding, and day-to-day supervision of junior staff as the office expands.
- Consistently role model and foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance team culture aligned with CPI’s values.
Competencies and Experience
- Post-graduate degree (Master’s or PhD) in Economics, Finance, Public Policy, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Substantial progressively senior experience (10 years +) in climate finance, financial analysis, consulting, international NGOs, think tanks, financial institutions, or related fields.
- Understanding of European climate policy, regulatory and operating environments.
- Experience working with or advising governments, multilateral institutions, or development finance actors.
- Strong quantitative research and analytical skills.
- Proven project and people management experience, with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
- Legal authorization to work in Austria (no visa sponsorship available).

Position Details
- CPI is recruiting for one full-time position (40 hours) to be based in our Vienna office.
- Seniority of role (Manager or Senior Manager) will be determined by previous relevant work experience.
- Gross Annual salary includes 14 payments and is based on a 40-hour working week
- CPI has adopted a flexible working policy whereby staff are able to mix working remotely with days in the office.
