Excelsior Wood Products is currently seeking a Floor Manager to coordinate production at our full-service custom wood mill. The Floor Manager oversees daily operations, ensuring the shop runs smooth and efficiently by setting up project priorities for production.
Excelsior Wood Products is a small, family-owned business located in historic Kingston, NY. We have the capability to manufacture both new and reclaimed wood products including mouldings, flooring, decking, siding, paneling and furniture to name a few. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Manage production to prioritize the workload based upon many different factors.
· Manage the fiscal activities of the shop to include: daily staffing levels, material and equipment usage.
· Set-up equipment for specific jobs.
· Analyze and document processes and problems. Recommend solutions to enhance efficiencies.
· Direct staff in carrying out proper safety and environmental procedures.
· Responsible for Shop Crew scheduling to include: work assignments, employee training and employee PTO approval, ensuring that there is enough labor to meet production goals.
· Responsible for achieving production and quality goals while keeping the safety of all at the forefront.
· Assist Management Staff in resolving complex or out of policy operations problems.
· Communicate inventory issues to the salesperson of record, the owner or the owner's delegate
Qualifications:
· Minimum of 5 years manufacturing experience.
· 2 to 4 years of successful floor management experience
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
· Enthusiastic and goal oriented
· Excellent time management skills as well as the ability to prioritize the workload based upon many different factors
· Understand operating costs and have ability to make decisions that help reduce overall costs without reducing quality
· Basic math skills including addition and subtraction of fractions
· Read and understand various measurements on a measuring tape
· Understand the difference between nominal and actual sizes in various wood species
· Ability to lift 50 lbs repeatedly
· Ability to work with minimal supervision
Mandatory drug testing and background check are required prior to employment.
Preferred education: High school diploma, Trade school in woodworking
Preferred Skills: Fork truck operation
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $28.00 per hour
