Position Summary
The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing daily manufacturing operations to ensure products are produced safely, efficiently, and to quality standards. This role leads production teams, manages schedules, and works closely with Quality, Maintenance, and Supply Chain to meet operational goals while maintaining compliance with food safety and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee daily production activities to meet output, quality, and delivery targets
- Lead, train, and supervise production supervisors and line staff
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards, GMPs, HACCP, and company policies
- Monitor production efficiency, labor utilization, downtime, and waste
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance to address non-conformances and implement corrective actions
- Work with Maintenance to schedule equipment repairs and preventative maintenance
- Maintain accurate production records, reports, and KPIs
- Enforce workplace safety standards and promote a safe working environment
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity and reduce costs
- Participate in hiring, performance management, and employee development
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or degree in Food Science, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or related field
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in food manufacturing production, with leadership responsibility
- Strong knowledge of GMP, HACCP, food safety, and regulatory compliance
- Proven experience managing teams in a fast-paced production environment
- Solid understanding of production planning, scheduling, and inventory flow
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Proficient in production reporting, Excel, and manufacturing systems
Working Conditions
- Manufacturing plant environment (standing, walking, and floor presence required)
- Shift work and flexible hours may be required based on production needs
- Exposure to food production equipment, noise, and temperature variations
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Etobicoke, ON M8Z 5L6: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
Experience:
- Management: 2 years (required)
- Manufacturing of Baked Goods: 3 years (required)
