Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and customer-focused Medical Office Front Desk professional to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional administrative support in a fast-paced medical environment. This role requires strong communication skills, proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems, and knowledge of medical terminology and billing processes. Experience with dental or medical clinics, along with familiarity with systems like Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, Dentrix, or Eaglesoft, is preferred. Bilingual abilities are a plus to effectively serve diverse patient populations.
Duties
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a positive first impression
- Manage patient check-in and check-out processes efficiently
- Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance verification procedures
- Schedule appointments using medical scheduling software and coordinate patient flow
- Review and update patient records accurately within EHR systems including Athenahealth and Dentrix
- Answer multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette and assist with patient inquiries
- Maintain organized medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Assist with documentation review, CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, and care plan documentation as needed
- Support administrative tasks such as filing, data entry (including 10 key typing), and office management duties
- Collaborate with clinical staff to facilitate smooth clinic operations
Skills
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and Medicare guidelines
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or similar platforms
- Experience in medical billing, insurance verification, and documentation review
- Excellent customer service skills with professional phone etiquette and interpersonal communication abilities
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with health information management standards and HIPAA compliance requirements
- Bilingual skills are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Prior clinic or dental office experience is preferred to understand workflow processes and office management practices
- Competency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and basic computer skills for administrative functions
