Middle School Math Teacher Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and highly effective Middle School Math Teacher who is committed to meeting the needs of all learners and creating a positive, well-managed classroom environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong instructional practices, work independently, and build meaningful relationships with students while maintaining high academic expectations.

ResponsibilitiesInstruction & Student Learning

• Provide clear learning goals and objectives for each lesson, supported with rubrics to help students track their progress.
• Deliver math content in a comprehensive, cohesive, and developmentally appropriate manner so all students demonstrate understanding.
• Structure lessons to maximize instructional time and ensure they are completed within the allotted schedule.
• Help students interact with new math concepts by identifying key information, breaking down complex ideas, elaborating on learning, and recording new knowledge.
• Support students in practicing and deepening their understanding through guided practice, independent work, and strategy-based learning.
• Challenge students at their individual ability levels and guide them through higher-order thinking tasks and problem-solving.
• Communicate high expectations for every student, including those who may struggle, by asking purposeful, probing questions.

Classroom Management & Learning Environment

• Establish clear classroom rules and procedures by teaching and reinforcing consistent routines.
• Use positive recognition to reinforce appropriate behavior and follow up with fair, consistent consequences when necessary.
• Maintain strong classroom management that supports a safe, respectful, and focused learning environment.
• Build effective relationships with students through fairness, respect, and consistent verbal and nonverbal communication.
• Engage students through enthusiastic teaching, active participation, and varied instructional strategies.
• Create a structured, orderly, and physically safe classroom that supports learning for all.

Planning, Preparation & Professional Responsibilities

• Independently plan high-quality lessons and units, incorporating scaffolding to support diverse learners.
• Create or select assessments that align with lesson goals and accurately measure student understanding.
• Use traditional and modern instructional resources, including technology, to enhance math instruction.
• Prepare and plan for the needs of students who may lack academic support at home by offering additional guidance, interventions, and differentiated instruction.
• Work independently while also collaborating with colleagues as needed to support school goals.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching middle school mathematics preferred.
• Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
• Ability to meet the academic and behavioral needs of all students.
• Demonstrated independence in planning, instruction, and classroom leadership.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $4,000.00 - $5,000.00 per month

Work Location: In person
