General description
Reporting to the Quality Manager this individual ensures that all Incoming, In-process, and Final Inspection Testing Requirements are met. This individual ensures that testing equipment is adequate to the task requirements, used correctly, programmed, calibrated, and maintained as needed. Working with Quality, Production, and Engineering, this position will train and assist in collecting/verifying testing data for inspections as directed. Where questions or potential issues are identified, they are to communicate and support the appropriate personnel/departments to aid in understanding and resolving the issue. Operating, and training others in the operation of, various test equipment and test measurement devices associated with product validation at every stage of the process.
Prerequisite Skills and Qualifications:
Required:
- Proficient with, Paint, Resin, and Fabric testing, Gel Timers, Viscosity cups, Differential Scanning Coulometer (DSC), Tensile, Hardness, Ultrasonic testing, and other relevant test methods/equipment
- Knowledge of engineering standards and testing requirements and establishing processes to ensure compliance
- Practical Quality experience-methods, equipment, and techniques
- Proficient in drawing interpretation (blueprint reading/CAD/etc.)
- Well organized and able to switch between functions/tasks (multitasking)
- High computer literacy-Microsoft based software.
- Excellent communication skills
- Knowledge of measurement techniques- Basic gauging (Calipers, Micrometers, etc.), fixture use, etc.
- Knowledge of ISO9001 and AS9100 standards
- Asset-Certification/training as Quality or Lab Technician or Materials Tester
- Asset-Machining and welding knowledge
- Asset-Understanding of coating, painting, composite, fabrics, and resins
- Asset-Experience in the Defence Industry with emphasis on Quality Testing Processes
- Asset-Prior experience with automotive and manufacturing industries
- Asset-Knowledge of welding, machining processes, and composite production
Essential Duties:
The duties associated with this position include, but are not limited to:
- Conduct and document various tests to validate processes, and materials.
- Maintain existing equipment and source new or replacement equipment.
- Generate and maintain appropriate Work Instructions, Records, or other related documents.
- Train personnel on testing procedures, equipment, gauges, and fixtures, and other processes relevant to their function
- Assist with incoming, in-process, and finished part and product inspection and documenting results.
- Interaction with, and participation in, corrective action activities and groups
- Coordinate with Quality, Engineering, and Production, to communicate, and understand issues found and assist in containment and verification of suspect populations.
- Create non-conformance reports and communicate findings through appropriate channels.
- Document inspection and work operations activity through Current MRP system.
- Follow relevant Company procedure and where required creating aid in updating or creating to drive improvement.
- Other duties as assigned.
