Overview

A company that specializes in creating customized frozen food products for its customers is currently looking for a QA Technician.

The QA Technician is responsible for completing quality audits and in-process inspections on the plant floor at regular intervals during every shift to ensure food safety and quality policies and procedures are completely and correctly followed. The QA Technician is responsible for reporting food safety and quality issues.

Location: Dufferin/Finch

Core Responsibilities:

· Audit production processes for all applicable quality checks: label, net weight, composition, package integrity, organoleptic or sensory (taste all products with or without meat).

· Pre-Operational Inspection

- Visually inspect process equipment and areas for cleanliness.

- Verify cleaning by taking ATP swabs and allergen swabs.

- Maintain inventory of ATP and allergen test kits.

- Complete pre-op inspection and allergen records.

· Process Area checks

- Verify sauce cooking and cooling temperatures and record on CCP forms.

- Verify grains/pasta/rice cooking and cooling temperatures.

- Check ingredients for expiry date, FEFO/FIFO; ensure no signs of allergen cross-contamination, mould, physical contaminants.

-Verify use of correct ingredients and packaging as per PDS.

- Verify assembly process: components & product weights, seal, appearance.

- Verify product traceability information (date code, establishment # (if applicable).

- Verify line clearance and product change-over.

- Take finished product temperature in Packaging and complete CCP 2 forms.

- Review shipping and receiving areas, verify COA and records.

- Monitor employees GMP compliance.

- Perform sensory evaluation of finished products.

- Take retention samples and keep retention samples area organized.

- Fill-in/complete meat traceability form for export products.

- Complete QA daily audit checklist.

- Verify / Validate X-ray / Metal Detector functionality and record on the relevant forms.

· Routine tasks

- Perform monthly routine audits in the plant (e.g. GMP, glass and knife audit).

- Take swab samples from direct food contact surfaces for micro analysis as per schedule

- Take drain, air, water and swab samples for environmental monitoring.

- Collect & submit samples for analysis (ingredients, in-process and finished product).

- Verify sanitation chemicals concentrations daily.

- Perform ingredient (e.g. meat, shrimp) sampling.

· Prepare and submit CFIA verification/approval documents – regular CVS tasks and products for export.

Perform other assigned duties (e.g. new product launch, plant trials, mock recall).

Pay: $22.00-$24.00 per hour
