Job Summary
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Occupational Health and Safety Officer to ensure compliance with workplace safety regulations and promote a safe working environment. The ideal candidate will develop, implement, and monitor health and safety programs, conduct risk assessments, and provide training to employees.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and enforce health and safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, provincial, and federal regulations.
- Conduct regular workplace inspections and risk assessments to identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses; prepare detailed reports and recommend preventive measures.
- Deliver safety training and awareness programs for employees and management.
- Maintain accurate records of safety audits, incidents, and compliance documentation.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies and ensure timely submission of required reports.
- Promote a culture of safety through continuous improvement initiatives.
- Monitor and maintain emergency response plans and procedures.
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field.
- Certification such as CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) or equivalent preferred.
- Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation and standards.
- Experience conducting risk assessments and safety audits.
- Excellent communication and training skills.
- Ability to analyze data and prepare detailed reports.
- Proficient in MS Office and safety management software.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of environmental health and safety practices.
- Experience in incident investigation and root cause analysis.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
