Job Summary

We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Occupational Health and Safety Officer to ensure compliance with workplace safety regulations and promote a safe working environment. The ideal candidate will develop, implement, and monitor health and safety programs, conduct risk assessments, and provide training to employees.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and enforce health and safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, provincial, and federal regulations.
• Conduct regular workplace inspections and risk assessments to identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
• Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses; prepare detailed reports and recommend preventive measures.
• Deliver safety training and awareness programs for employees and management.
• Maintain accurate records of safety audits, incidents, and compliance documentation.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies and ensure timely submission of required reports.
• Promote a culture of safety through continuous improvement initiatives.
• Monitor and maintain emergency response plans and procedures.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field.
• Certification such as CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) or equivalent preferred.
• Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation and standards.
• Experience conducting risk assessments and safety audits.
• Excellent communication and training skills.
• Ability to analyze data and prepare detailed reports.
• Proficient in MS Office and safety management software.

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of environmental health and safety practices.
• Experience in incident investigation and root cause analysis.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
