Job Description: Sales Representative – Government Department (Electrical Goods)

Position Title: Sales Representative – Government & Institutional Sales
Industry: Electrical Goods / Electrical Supply
Department: Government Liaison & Sales
Location: Kolkata
Employment Type: Full-Time

1. Position Overview

The Sales Representative will be responsible for managing and expanding business with government departments, public sector units (PSUs), municipal bodies, educational institutions, and other state/central government agencies. The candidate must be experienced in government procurement processes and capable of promoting the company’s electrical products, securing orders, and building long-term relationships.

2. Key Responsibilities

Government Sales & Business Development

  • Generate sales leads within government departments and ensure consistent follow-ups.
  • Present electrical products cables, wires, switchgear, lights to engineers, procurement officers, and department heads.

Client Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with government officials and decision-makers.
  • Conduct regular visits to departments to understand ongoing and upcoming requirements.
  • Ensure after-sales support, complaint resolution, and timely delivery coordination.

Sales Targets & Reporting

  • Achieve monthly and annual sales targets for government business.
  • Maintain daily visit reports, sales forecasting, and tender tracking reports.
  • Provide regular market updates, competitor analysis, and pricing feedback.

3. Required Skills & Competencies

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to build trust and long-term relationships with government stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of electrical products and technical specifications (preferred).
  • Proficiency in MS Office, e-procurement systems, and documentation.

4. Qualifications

  • Graduate in any discipline (B.Tech in Electrical or Diploma preferred).
  • 1–5 years of experience in government or institutional sales.
  • Experience in electrical product sales will be an added advantage.
  • Must possess a valid driving license and willingness to travel.

5. Compensation

  • Salary: as per company standards
  • Incentives: Performance-based incentives on sales achievement
  • Other Benefits: Travel allowance, mobile allowance
