Security Officer

Job Title: Security Officer

Location: Auckland Region

Reports To: Security Supervisor / Manager

Job Purpose:

To provide a safe and secure environment for employees, customers, and visitors, while safeguarding property and assets through effective monitoring and response procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

Patrolling & Monitoring:

Conduct regular patrols of assigned premises, both on foot and by vehicle, to ensure security protocols are followed.

Monitor surveillance systems and security equipment, including cameras, alarm systems, and access control points.

Report any suspicious activity or breaches of security to the supervisor or relevant authorities.

Access Control:

Manage and monitor access to the premises by checking identification, issuing visitor passes, and ensuring only authorized personnel enter the building.

Ensure secure operation of access control systems and assist with maintaining proper records of entries and exits.

Emergency Response:

Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies, including fire alarms, medical emergencies, and security breaches.

Assist in the evacuation of personnel when required, following the appropriate safety procedures.

Collaborate with emergency services (police, fire, medical teams) during critical situations.

Incident Reporting:

Document and report all incidents, irregularities, and violations of security policies in detail.

Complete daily logs and submit incident reports as required.

Provide statements or evidence to authorities as necessary.

Customer Service:

Assist visitors, staff, and contractors with inquiries in a professional and helpful manner.

Offer a visible presence that promotes safety and security while maintaining positive relations with staff and the public.

Deterrence & Prevention:

Identify potential security risks and suggest improvements to minimize threats.

Provide visible deterrence to criminal activity and enforce company policies and procedures related to security.

Collaboration with Other Departments:

Work closely with other staff and departments to ensure a cohesive security operation.

Assist with training staff and contractors on safety and security procedures as needed.

Health & Safety Compliance:

Ensure adherence to all workplace health and safety regulations and policies.

Participate in safety drills and training sessions as required.

Key Skills & Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in security or law enforcement (preferred).
  • Must have a valid New Zealand driver’s licence (Class 1).
  • Must hold a current First Aid Certificate.
  • Must have a Certificate of Approval by the Ministry of Justice.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion and professionalism.
  • Good physical fitness and ability to perform duties that may involve standing or walking for extended periods.

We are looking for 2 x Security Officers to join our team !!!

Minimum 30 hours a week

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24.00 – $26.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 30 per week

Schedule:

  • Shift work

Licence/Certification:

  • First Aid Certification (Required)
  • Certificate of Approval (Required)
  • Class 1 Driver Licence (Required)

Work Location: In person

Expected Start Date: 14/04/2025
