We are now looking for a Senior Stakeholder and Community Engagement Manager to drive the design and implementation of the engagement and communications strategy supporting the development and construction of our first offshore wind project in Finland, the Korsnäs Project.

This position is offered on a 2-year contract and we welcome applicants who are interested in working between 0.7 and 1.0 FTE.

The successful candidate will become a key member of the Stakeholder Engagement team, and will work closely with internal and external specialists towards delivery of 1.3GW of offshore wind power. We are looking for a candidate with several years experience in managing community and stakeholder engagement processes, with understanding of the Finnish market conditions and political landscape, and able to design and deliver effective communications and meaningful dialogue.

They must have a good understanding of potential concerns, interests and needs of various stakeholders on local, regional and national level, including residents, businesses, authorities and associations. You will also facilitate effective collaboration within the project team, and our wider internal stakeholders, across the Vattenfall – Metsahallitus partnership. Your responsibilities as Stakeholder & Community Engagement Advisor

As Stakeholder and Community Engagement Manager, you will work with Project and Consents Managers and be part of an international team of Stakeholder and Community Engagement advisors, benefitting from huge collective experience, while also operating autonomously within your brief.

This will involve opportunities to:

  • Design and implement the Communications and Engagement Strategy for Korsnäs Offshore Wind project.
  • Support the permitting of this major infrastructure project, by involving stakeholders and communities in exploring sensitivities and optimizing the opportunities they can unlock.
  • Undertake regular stakeholder mapping to inform the design and manage engagement processes, which include varied communities (fishermen and other marine users, land owners, rural, urban, highly engaged and seldom heard etc.).
  • Draft web and other content to ensure communities and stakeholders are appropriately informed throughout the development process and beyond, develop content plans and effective consultation processes to facilitate informed feedback can be gathered from interested parties. Ensure reporting on our engagement, including how we respond to feedback in our decision-making is accessible, timely and transparent.
  • Align with Public and Regulatory Affairs and the national Market Development Director on national topics and support development of lobby positions to improve the market conditions.
  • Align with Media Relations and Editorial colleagues on broader one-to-many communications, and ensure all communications and messaging aligns with project and our corporate purpose and aims.
  • Be the first point of contact for project stakeholders and communities and interface effectively, enabling meaningful, two-way dialogue which leads to enhanced experiences of the projects’ development.
  • Represent Vattenfall in stakeholder forums, and encourage greater understanding of the role of offshore wind in delivering fossil freedom
  • Support local supply chain engagement and ways to maximize the benefits associated with the projects

You will also be required to promote a safety-conscious and sustainable environment.

Location
Helsinki or Stockholm - regular travel to Vaasa. You will be required to spend time in the project area (Vaasa), linking directly with local and regional stakeholders, residents and communities of interest.


Qualifications


Your profile / who are you?

  • Experienced (least five years) in delivering community and stakeholder engagement relating to major infrastructure projects / sustainable development projects.
  • Well-connected and networked, with an engaging and open nature; an active listener, able to develop a positive rapport with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (Finnish, Swedish and English)
  • Creative, with experience of producing bespoke communications materials and digital content with excellent IT and digital skills.
  • Flexible and able to multi-task, and work rapidly to deadlines, while maintaining strong attention to detail.
  • A graduate with a degree, preferably in communications, psychology, community or international development, or other related social science.
