Temporary / Locum Veterinarian (Seasonal Coverage)

Position Overview
We are seeking a licensed Veterinarian to provide temporary coverage while our primary veterinarian is away. This role focuses on general clinical practice and client care. No surgical duties are required. Scheduling is flexible and can be adapted to the successful candidate’s availability.

This position is well suited for a locum veterinarian or someone seeking short-term or seasonal work in Ontario.

Primary Responsibilities

• Conduct physical examinations and diagnose medical conditions
• Develop and manage medical treatment plans
• Order, interpret, and review laboratory tests and diagnostic results
• Administer vaccinations and provide preventative care
• Prescribe medications in compliance with Ontario regulations
• Communicate diagnoses, treatment options, and care plans clearly to clients
• Maintain accurate and complete medical records
• Work collaboratively with registered veterinary technicians and support staff

Scope of Practice

• No surgical duties
• No emergency or after-hours work unless mutually agreed upon

Qualifications

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent
• Licensed and in good standing with the College of Veterinarians of Ontario (CVO)
• Eligible to practice veterinary medicine in Ontario under a General or Restricted Certificate
• Strong diagnostic skills and sound clinical judgment
• Professional, reliable, and comfortable working independently within an established clinic

• Hours may be full-time, part-time, or specific days per week

• Competitive hourly or daily rate, based on experience
