Maven by Morgan is a Mediterranean-inspired restaurant and cocktail bar located on Brunswick Street in Fitzroy. Founded by Morgan Hipworth, Maven focuses on vibrant share-style dining, seasonal ingredients, and warm, energetic hospitality. We are looking for an Assistant Restaurant Manager who can help lead the floor, support the team, and ensure every guest experience reflects the standard Maven is known for.

This role sits directly under the Restaurant Manager and works closely with ownership, the kitchen team, and front-of-house staff to run smooth, high-energy dinner services. The position suits someone who enjoys leading from the floor, has strong attention to detail, and thrives in a busy hospitality environment.

The Assistant Restaurant Manager helps oversee the day-to-day running of the restaurant during service. This includes supervising staff, managing guest experiences, maintaining service standards, and supporting operational tasks such as rosters, stock, and venue presentation. The role requires someone who is confident managing a section while also stepping back to oversee the overall flow of service.

Key responsibilities include running dinner services alongside the management team, supporting staff training and development, maintaining high service standards across the floor, and handling guest interactions and feedback. The role also involves assisting with opening and closing procedures, monitoring reservations and table flow, and ensuring the venue operates efficiently during peak periods.

You will work closely with the bar and kitchen teams to maintain clear communication throughout service, ensuring dishes and drinks are delivered at the right pace and the overall guest experience remains seamless.

We are looking for someone with previous experience in a supervisory or management role within a busy restaurant environment. A strong understanding of table service, wine and cocktail knowledge, and the ability to lead a team during fast-paced services is important. The right candidate will be organised, calm under pressure, and confident handling guest interactions.

The role requires a hands-on approach to leadership. The Assistant Restaurant Manager will help guide the front-of-house team during service, set the tone for hospitality on the floor, and help maintain a positive and supportive team culture.

Availability across evenings and weekends is required as Maven operates dinner service from Tuesday through Saturday.

Pay: $65,000.00 – $75,000.00 per year
