About the Role
Do you have credible clinical knowledge and a passion for improving patient outcomes?
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced clinician to join the Patient Safety and Quality Team at Health NZ, Te Matau a Maui Hawke’s Bay to be part of and actively influence patient safety and excellence in care.
The Patient Safety and Quality Team is developing to ensure it is responsive and provides a quality service to business partners as they strive to improve patient outcomes and embed a culture where patient safety and quality are fundamental pillars to success. Close engagement with patients and whanau to undertake timely review and identification of opportunities for improvement where potential harm has occurred is a key part of the role.
A sound knowledge of clinical governance and improvement methodology will enable the Clinical Event Lead to effectively drive, navigate, and build capability and capacity within Group Leadership teams to support them to deliver on key quality and patient safety workstreams.

The Patient Safety Team is dedicated to fostering a culture of safety and excellence across the hospital. Our mission is to ensure that every patient receives the highest standard of care in a safe and supportive environment. Through proactive risk assessment, staff training, incident reporting, and continuous quality improvement initiatives, we work collaboratively with departments to identify and mitigate potential safety concerns. Our team is committed to empowering staff, engaging patients, and promoting practices that prioritize safety at every level of care. Together, we strive to create a hospital environment where patients and their families feel confident and cared for.

About you
As a Clinical Lead in the Patient Safety Team, you are a compassionate and driven healthcare professional with a deep commitment to promoting safety and excellence in patient care.
- You bring extensive clinical expertise and a strong understanding of safety protocols, quality improvement processes, and risk management strategies.
- With exceptional leadership and communication skills, you inspire collaboration across multidisciplinary teams to foster a culture of continuous learning and accountability.
- You are proactive in identifying opportunities to enhance patient safety, analyzing data to inform decision-making, and implementing innovative solutions that align with best practices. Above all, you are dedicated to empowering both staff and patients, ensuring safety remains at the heart of every clinical interaction.
