- Excellent technical know-how and experience in troubleshooting facility systems (building management systems, HVAC, energy management and much more).
- You are skillful with your hands, optimising systems, doing minor repairs & adjustments, that do not require certifications. Qualifications in electric, mechanical or hydraulic building maintenance are very welcome.
- Just like us, you love a manual and are able follow a set of instructions, understanding building assets and how to operate them.
- Sound knowledge of legal standards, regulations and compliance in the field of facility management, HSE (Health, Safety &. Environment) and contractor management.

- A service-minded & solution-oriented approach to work, a team player and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Robust skills and experience in how to effectively manage competing priorities, and approach situations in a calm and logical way.
- Confidence using Microsoft Office suite, CAFM and are open to learning new apps.

- You will look after the sites and their technical building systems and ensure our safety in the workplace and the smooth running of store and warehouse operations.
- Securing that assets are managed effectively and efficiently, including safety, compliance, maintenance and improvement to ensure a safe and operational environment for the business, co-workers and customers.
- Performing daily standard routines, inspection, testing and maintenance, repairs & improvements.
- Supervising works executed by an external FM supplier, maintaining strict adherence with all applicable local regulations and internal mandatories
- Conduct and document safety checks / maintenance on the technical building systems.
- Carry out repair and maintenance work as well as new installations.
- Coordinate and supervise external companies.
- Respond to issues ensuring customer oriented and timely resolutions.
- Fulfilling administrative requirements to maintain inventory accuracy, to keep track of all reported cases and to enable a complete and correct follow-up.
- Ensuring relevant and regular feedback for all reported cases to the respective issuers. Be the main contact partner for all reported cases issued by external/internal stakeholders of the unit
- Supporting with internal FM-related checks and reviews as well as participate in internal and external audits and certification.
- Together with your Facilities Management colleagues, you will be on a rotating roster that includes evenings & weekends to ensure coverage for the IKEA store & external warehouse.
- 2 years’ experience in Facilities Management, Building Maintenance or equivalent role with a sound understanding of building services in New Zealand.
- Preferred experience in a relevant trade, such as electrical, mechanical and/or hydraulic skill sets.
- Experience working with New Zealand building codes, safety codes and relevant legislation related to facilities management in New Zealand.
- Passion for working with sustainability and environmental considerations and driving improvements.
- This role is permanent full time.
- The work location for this role is IKEA Sylvia Park and external warehouse.
- As our store operates 7 days per week, you must have the availability to work a rotating roster with a mix of day and evening shifts. You also have the flexibility to work weekends.
- Internal role title is Unit Facility Mangement Technician.

About this work area
As a committed, open-minded and curious Technician, you will support the IKEA Sylvia Park store and External Warehouse in all technical areas of facility management as a trusted and valued contact person. Energy and Building Services Maintenance is part of our FM scope, which includes all repairs, maintenances or refurbishments of the building and its surroundings and technical building systems. These include sprinkler systems, refrigeration, air conditioning, heating and ventilation systems as well as sanitary facilities and loading technology.
