Full- Time Permanent Position

Bon Secours Hospital Cork is Ireland’s largest private hospital. Established in 1915, the Hospital has 344 beds, employs over 1,500 staff and cares for more than 100,000 patients per annum.

We are now inviting applications for a General Operative to work closely on a daily basis with the Maintenance Department to ensure smooth, safe and compliant operation of the hospital’s waste management service.

We are now inviting applications for the above post from suitably qualified candidates to join the facilities team.

The Duties of the Position Include:

Liaising with and working in co-operation with the other colleagues in the Maintenance Department, to include taking part in multi-discipline tasks.
Having an understanding of Health and Safety legislation and other regulatory aspects of working in a healthcare facility.
Responsible for the collection of clinical and domestic waste from wards and departments
General maintenance of outer areas and assist with office relocations
To also work as a porter for the Pharmacy department as required
Weekend work will be required

The Ideal Candidate will have:

Leaving Certificate or equivalent
Will be very flexible, good initiative and work ethic
Excellent understanding of general DIY/engineering activities
Must have achieved satisfactory level of knowledge and professional skill in job related areas
Previous experience in a facilities/maintenance environment in a healthcare setting is desirable.
Have excellent interpersonal, teamwork and organization skills.
