Job Summary
Kawartha Cardiology is looking for an individual to join our clerical team as a Medical Office Assistant on a full time, permanent basis, working 40-44 hours per week. This individual will provide essential support to our healthcare providers and patients, ensuring smooth day-to-day clinic operations. This role is ideal for someone with a keen eye for detail who enjoys working as a part of a supportive team!
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years Medical Reception experience and/or completion of a recognized Medical Office Assistant program is an asset.
- Proficiency in EMR systems (Accuro experience is an asset), Microsoft Office, and Word programs and the ability to operate office equipment (photocopier, scanner, fax).
- Knowledge of medical terminology in Cardiology
- Flexibility & Adaptability to workflow and schedule changes
- Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Positive and friendly attitude
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to prioritize and re-prioritize work.
- Ability to deal professionally, collaboratively, and effectively with physicians, team members and the public.
- Ability to manage multiple demands within specified timelines.
- Understanding and compliance of confidentiality and privacy under the Personal Health Information Protection Act
Duties:
- Forward facing patient interaction; placing patients in assessment rooms.
- Triaging, scheduling and confirming of patient appointments and referrals
- Answering phones, transferring calls, and receiving voicemails and email communications
- Receiving and sending of medical records by fax, mail, and electronic methods
- Collaboration and communication with internal and external team members
- Preparation & tracking of patient electronic medical records.
- Scanning and / or filing of medical records electronically
