Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and organized Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional patient service while managing front desk operations in a fast-paced medical environment. This role requires proficiency in various medical administrative tasks, including scheduling appointments, handling patient inquiries, and maintaining accurate medical records. A strong understanding of medical terminology, coding, and insurance processes is essential for success in this position.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors with a warm and professional demeanor.
- Manage multi-line phone systems, answering calls promptly and addressing inquiries.
- Schedule patient appointments efficiently while considering provider availability.
- Verify patient insurance information and assist with insurance verification processes.
- Maintain accurate medical records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Process medical billing and coding using EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth.
- Review documentation for accuracy and completeness prior to patient visits.
- Assist with intake procedures, including collecting patient information and care plans.
- Provide clerical support, including filing, typing, and data entry using Microsoft Office applications.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure seamless patient care coordination.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical administrative role is preferred.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as eClinicalWorks or Dentrix is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-9, and ICD-10 codes.
- Familiarity with Medicare processes and medical billing practices is essential.
- Excellent computer skills with the ability to navigate various software applications efficiently.
- Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply to enhance communication with diverse patient populations.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and filing tasks.
- Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to handle patient inquiries professionally.
- Previous clinic or hospital experience is a plus; dental office experience is also valued.
