About the Role
To support TTW during a pivotal phase of growth, we are looking for a Payroll Officer role who is looking to build their capability and develop a long-term career in payroll.
Reporting to and supported by a seasoned and well experienced Payroll Manager, this hands-on role is role suited to someone who enjoys ownership, values accuracy, and is keen to expand their knowledge across Australian payroll and award interpretation within a technical, project-driven environment.
You will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of payroll for Australian employees, and you will work across a diverse and vibrant engineering workforce.
This role offers strong development opportunities, particularly in award interpretation, data handling, and complex payroll scenarios. For a capable, can-do individual with the right attitude, training and support will be provided to build the required technical skills and knowledge.
What you will do
- End-to-end payroll processing for Australian payrolls, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with relevant legislation. There may also be opportunity to process payroll for Singapore and Indonesia.
- Collaborate closely with Finance and HR teams to align payroll operations with broader business objectives.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, superannuation, and other statutory requirements.
- Maintain and update payroll records, including leave balances, entitlements, and employee data.
- Respond to employee queries regarding payroll, benefits, and entitlements in a timely and professional manner.
- Prepare payroll reports and analytics for internal stakeholders and external auditors as required.
- Support the implementation of new payroll systems or upgrades, including testing and training.
- Previous payroll experience or exposure to payroll processes
- A demonstrated understanding of Australian payroll legislation, or a strong willingness and ability to learn
- Intermediate Excel skills, including the ability to reconcile data, work with large datasets, and use formulas (e.g. VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, pivot tables), or a strong willingness and ability to learn
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of your processes
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset
- High attention to detail and ability to manage confidential information with discretion
- You are a self-starter with a genuine appetite to learn and grow
- You take ownership of your work and consistently delivers accurate outcomes
- You don’t just process payroll—you seek to understand the “why” behind it, including legislation, systems, and downstream impacts.
- You are motivated to build your capability quickly, take on increasing responsibility, and progress toward a payroll leadership role.
