The Chef / Cook is responsible for planning, preparing and serving nutritious meals using the food and ingredients available on site. They will take responsibility for the safe and efficient running of the kitchen during their shift, including food preparation, service, cleaning and food safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

· Plan, prepare, cook and serve nutritious meals using food available on site.

· Cater appropriately for allergies, special diets and cultural/religious dietary requirements.

· Take responsibility for the kitchen and serving area during the shift.

· Maintain high standards of food safety, cleanliness and hygiene.

· Complete required HACCP checks, temperature records and food safety documentation.

· Ensure food is stored correctly and stock is rotated appropriately.

· Monitor stock and report shortages or requirements.

· Provide a friendly, respectful and professional service to residents.

· Report equipment faults or Health & Safety concerns.

· Ensure the kitchen and serving areas are clean, organised and ready for the next service at the end of each shift.

· Work cooperatively with the Head Chef and wider Tara Place team.

Requirements

· Previous experience working as a Chef/Cook or in a commercial kitchen

· Experience preparing meals for groups or large numbers

· Good knowledge of food safety, hygiene and HACCP requirements

· Ability to cater for allergies and special dietary requirements

· Availability to work weekends and Bank Holidays as required

Working at Tara Place

Tara Place operates 365 days per year. This position is primarily required to provide weekend kitchen cover, with flexibility to work Bank Holidays and additional shifts where required.

Pay: From €20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20.0 per week
