The Hotel
The Viking Hotel is located 4km from Waterford city Centre and just 7km from the M9 motorway. The hotel offers a perfect base for both business and leisure guests. We have 98 rooms in total that are tastefully designed with the comfort of home in mind. The Wooden Pestle Bar & Restaurant recently underwent a makeover and has a great atmosphere which is enjoyed by residents and locals alike. Our front of house areas are tastefully designed and provides the perfect backdrop for our team to welcome every guest who walks through the door!
The role
This is a part time position including weekend shifts. The role requires someone to work nights from 11pm to 7pm. As the first person to greet our guests, the hotel night porter role is key in setting a welcoming tone for every guest on behalf of the entire team in the hotel. We are an experienced, enthusiastic team of hospitality professionals and if you join us you can expect to work in an enthusiastic environment where the focus is on collectively delivering the highest levels of customer care for our guests.
The successful candidate will be provided with on the job training but It would be advantageous that the applicants have previous hotel reception or bar and food service experience. The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills and experience in a hotel, they will be reliable, organized, have excellent customer care, be a good team player and have a natural flair and enthusiasm for dealing with and communicating with people.
About The Role
What will be involved?
- Providing a warm welcome to guests.
- Checking in & out guests and guest queries.
- Ensuring that billing is completed correctly.
- Some food & beverage service as required.
- Responsibility for health and safety and security during night shifts.
- Answering switchboard and telephone in a friendly, professional manner, transferring calls to correct extensions and dealing with requests.
- Informing the guests about all hotel facilities and those locally available to enhance their stay.
- Dealing with any guest feedback, queries and suggestions quickly and efficiently.
Is this role for you? Here are the key criteria we are looking out for:
For this role it is important that you have at least one year of experience in a hotel as a Food & Beverage assistant or hotel receptionist .
Experience with the Opera system would be ideal, but isn't 100% essential as training can be provided.
Working in a hotel involves a lot of multi tasking - you would have to be comfortable with that.
As the role involves processing detailed information, the ability to focus and record detail is very important.
Being fluent in English is essential for this role.
A warm and friendly, happy and caring disposition is very important.
